Blade Runner
"Teardrops in the rain..." Gets me every time!
Concept: By juxtaposing man made elements behaving like humans against humans becoming or behaving man made, I intend to force the audience to question what does it mean to be human in a futuristic society where man can create life?
Role: Concept, Design, 3D
Client: Passion Project
Throughout this classic film, there is a thin line between what it means to be a real human and have the ability to express empathy and what it means to be a fabrication or an android. The sequence begins with a teardrop breathing life into a foil, gum wrapper, origami sculpture and then moves to a woman turning to glass, shattering and releasing a dove. I then lead into the film with a dove crossing the boundary from reality into a virtual dystopian universe. This dove traversing through an explosion much like the iris of a human eye is designed to leave the audience to wonder is
it real or virtual?
